Food Preparation:
Wash the figs well and lightly cut off the stem.

Pierce each fig with a toothpick so that it absorbs the syrup better.

In a large pot, place the water, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon peel.

Heat over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Add the figs and simmer for 40–50 minutes.

Add the lemon juice and let it boil for another 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and let cool. The syrup will thicken as it stands.

For better preservation, store the figs in sterilized glass jars.
